Always a classic; always beautiful: Hardwood flooring

The deep, majestic hues combined with the twists and swirls of their grain pattern transport you to another era and another time when life moved a little more slowly, and the value was cherished. Even their sound underfoot speaks of the strength and durability of hardwood. Whether you are seeking flooring in a formal dining room or study or whether you are looking for a more casual feel for your den or bedroom, wood floors fit the bill.

Hardwood flooring species & colors

When considering wood flooring, the first two questions you might ask are what species of wood are you looking for and what color stains will fit the spirit and mood of the room or rooms wherein you are working. Each species of wood has a unique grain pattern that will shape the overall look of the completed floor. Oak and walnut tend to have more of a straight grain pattern; where cherry and maple tend to have more burls and curls in its grain. We also offer flooring from birch, hickory, kupay, and pine woods, giving you a very wide variety of options.

Some of these woods you might like to have in a natural finish. If you wish to darken the color, we have products in a wide variety of stain types. If you wish to add a unique touch to the room, you might consider one color stain used as an outer border to the room in one color and a contrasting color for the central portion of the room. Whatever design you can imagine, our installers can create from the wide variety of materials at hand.

Another option is to have a distressed hardwood. These wood floors have been hand-scraped and distressed by a craftsman to give them the appearance of being older than they are and then hand refinished. These are perfect for areas of your home where you might be trying to capture the feel of an Irish pub or a more rustic cabin.

Choosing solid or engineered hardwood flooring

Depending on the location you are choosing to put wood flooring in your home will depend on the type of floor you will want to choose. Solid hardwood is ideal for above-grade areas in your home where there is a wooden sub-floor onto which they can be nailed. Engineered hardwood is designed in such a way that it can be placed below-grade as well as on concrete slabs. Both types of flooring are equally beautiful and are an excellent choice for any home.
